ঘরে বেঁধে' মোরে রেখো না
ধরিত্রী সব ব্যথায় বিধুর
রোগে শোকে দুঃখে জ্বালাতে আতুর
শেফালী শষ্প ভেঙ্গে' হয় চূর
সে কথা কি ভেবে' দেখ না
ফুল ফোটে ভোরে হাসি-মাখা মুখে
কীটে কাটা হয়ে ঝরে পড়ে' দুঃখে
চম্পককলি ভেঙ্গে' পড়ে ঝুঁকে'
তাদের কথা কি ভাবোনা
Translation
Don't block my leaving the path;
With kindly eyes don't You look on?
Do You look not?
Amid this world much work is there;
Tied to home keep me not.
By pain is the whole earth afflicted–
From disease, grieving, and woe, suffering distress.
Night jasmine and mild grass, crushed, they lie ruined;
That fact, do You observe and regard not?
Flowers bloom with smile-coated visage at morning;
Due to insects, how many are fallen down in grief.
Buds of magnolia, broken they drop, stooping;
Of their tale, do You think not?
